NAFTA

Americas largest trading partner is Canada followed by China and then Mexico.

There was an initial concern of jobs leaving the United States with the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).  However, the gains realized by removing trade barriers with Canada and Mexico have proven greater than the losses.   Another important factor here is energy. Both Canada and Mexico hold enormous stores of untapped natural resources including petroleum. In a country that currently imports 60% of its crude oil that is significant.  We need free and open trade in North America.
