Military

It is a fact of life that a strong military is a prerequisite for survival in this world. Our military is the finest in the world.  However the way we use the military is questionable. It appears the military is often used as a political tool as in Iraq. Saddam Hussein posed no more of a threat to the United States then did countless other despots. The Bush administration misled Americans into believing that he possessed “Weapons of Mass Destruction” that threatened our country.  Was he a dictator that abused his power? Yes. Is it the job of the United States to find every abusive government and make the corrections we deem necessary? I say no. Our military should be used to protect our country. We should stand ready at all times to defend America. While diplomacy is most important and I feel we should talk to all governments in order to reach peaceful agreements, they must also know that if we are forced to use our military, it will be swift and severe. While not an isolationist, I feel we are over extended. There are some people in the world that you leave alone because you know that if you provoke them you will pay the ultimate price. That should be the United States.
